Highlights
We celebrated the HBS Centennial on May 27th, 12pm with a business lunch at Restaurant Savoy. Harvard Business School Professor Boris Groysberg was our special guest. Title of his talk was "Hiring, Retaining, and Developing Stars: Myth vs. Reality". The event started with cocktails and followed with a lunch, presentation and discussion. The event was fully booked with 50 participants who thoroughly enjoyed Professor Groysberg's entertaining presentation.
Some 40 Harvard and Columbia alumna attended President Martti Ahtisaari's brilliant presentation that focused on Kosovo peace negotiations and other current affairs on May 20th at the Parliament Building. The presentation inspired a lively discussion moderated by Olli Kivinen of Helsingin Sanomat newspaper.
Harvard Club of Finland hosted the 2007 Harvard Alumni Association European Club Leaders' Conference on September 7-9 in Mustio Manor.
The conference program took place in the historic setting at the Mustio Manor. The theme of the conference was "Leadership & engagement: building a strong Harvard community". The professional program consisted of several panel discussions and presentations on Harvard and its recent developments and initiatives, most interesting being the coming inauguration of the new president, Drew Gilpin Faust.
On Saturday, the former Finnish Prime Minister Esko Aho, made a well-received keynote speech on Finland's leadership role in the innovation economy.
