Harvard University, founded in 1636, now comprises 14 different schools of higher learning on its campuses in Cambridge and Boston, Massachusetts in the U.S. The faculty includes 43 Nobel Laureates. Seven U.S. Presidents studied at Harvard.

Over 270.000 living alumni have attended Harvard. The current student body of over 20.000, includes 20% from countries outside the U.S., and 24% from minority ethnic groups. The college (undergraduate program) consists of 6.700 full-time students.

The university endowment totaled $29.2 billion in 2006. This allowed generous financial aid to students. 55% of all students (79% of college students) receive financial aid in the form of grants.

Harvard University’s library system is the largest academic library in the world, including over 15.8 million volumes, 7.5 million photographs, and millions of manuscript pages, recordings, maps, and digital media. http://lib.harvard.edu

  • There is no single office at Harvard University that handles admissions for all students to all programs. Instead, each school maintains its own admissions office and specialized staff to meet the needs of their prospective students.
